Manfred Mann. Manfreds Distinctive sound relied on Paul Jones' vibrant R & B vocals and prominent harmonic playing.
By 1964 the group consisted of Jones, Manfred Mann, Mike Vickers, Tom McGuiness and Mike Hugg. They were invited to write the new theme for the TV pop show Ready Steady Go. The result was 5-4-3-2-1 which gave them their first chart hit. This paved the way for a string of hits by Paul Jones, 13 top ten hits and 3 number ones. Other hits included Mighty Quinn, Do Wah Diddy. Ha Ha said the Clown and Fox on the Run.
