Stan Laurel was born Arthur Stanley Jefferson
on June 16,1890. He was the second child of five children born to
Arthur Jefferson and Margaret Metcalfe. He was born in the town of Ulverston, Cumbria, England. He spent his
childhood living in Dockwray Square, North Shields. His father was the
manager of the Theatre Royal now demolished in Prudhoe Street.
His parents were in theatre business. He was known as Stan in his
childhood. In his early years, he grew up with his grandmother because
his parents had to travel for shows. He attended school in Bishop
Auckland. His father had built him a play theatre in the attic,
his first official performance took place
when he was 16 years old.

USA. of a heart attack.
A bronze statue of Stan now stands in the park at the centre of Dockwray Square.
Robson Golightly Green was born on 18 December 1964 in Hexham,
Northumberland. He has two sisters, Dawn and Joanna, and
one brother David. His parents are Robson and Ann. Robson began work
as a draughtsman at the shipbuilders, Swan
Hunters. But after three years he decided to pursue his real dream
of acting, and began training at the Live Theatre in Newcastle. He
was giving the opportunity to take lead roles in plays produced by
the Live Theatre, which at the time brought him instant success in
the North-East of England. He first became known as
Jimmy the porter in Casualty, then went on to star in Soldier Soldier and his
career has gone from strength to strength.
Dame Flora McKenzie Robson actress of the stage and screen
was born 28th March 1902, in South Shields.
She studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London, and first
appeared at the Shaftsbury Theatre, London, in 1921. She gained fame
mainly in historical roles in plays and films, such as Queen Elizabeth
in Fire over England1931, and Thérèse Raquin in Guilty1944. She
consolidated her reputation with memorable stage performances in
Shaw's Captain Brassbound's Conversion1948 and Ibsen's Ghosts
1958. She appeared in more than 60 films, and was created a dame in
1960. She died on 7th July 1984, in Brighton,
East Sussex, England from cancer.
