Jimmy Nail
Born 16th March 1954. Married to Miriam Jones, they have two sons Thomas and Fredrick Jones.
In the early days Jimmy Nail was a welder and worked for a double glazing firm
in Newcastle. He was a singer in a 70's rock band called the King Crabs, he
formed the group and Geordie celebrity Mickie Hutton was the drummer. Jimmy's
party piece for the band was wearing a girls dress on stage.In 1985 Jimmy starred
in Morons from Outer Space with Griff Rhys Jones.
He played a moron named Desmond Brook. Auf Wiedersehen Pet was
Jimmy Nail's big break. He played Oz a lunatic cowboy builder from Newcastle.
Auf Wiedersehen Pet was a big hit it had over 6 million viewers for the 1st
series and 13 million for the second. This also stared Kevin Whatley, Tim Healy,
Pat Roach, Timothy Spall, Gary Holten & Christopher Fairbank.
After Auf Wiedersehen Pet, Jimmy tried out his music skills and released an
album in 1986 called Take It Or Leave It with Virgin Records. Making a brilliant
cover of Love Don't Live Here Anymore.
Elinor Mary Brent-Dyer
was born as Gladys Eleanor May Dyer on 6th April
1894, in South Shields. She was the
only daughter of Eleanor Watson Rutherford and Charles Morris Brent
Dyer. Writer of the "Chalet School' girls' stories. During her
lifetime Elinor M. Brent-Dyer published 101 books but she is
remembered mainly for her Chalet School series.
She studied at Leeds
University, and became a teacher, and was later head of the Margaret
Roper Girls' School in Hereford. Her first schoolgirl novel, Gerry
Goes to School, appeared in 1922, inaugurating her 98 titles.
Her fourth book, The School at the Chalet1925, established her famous series, whose
final book, Prefects of the Chalet School, was published posthumously
in 1970. In 1994, the year of the centenary of her Elinor Brent-Dyer's
birth, 'Friends of the Chalet School' put up plaques in Pertisau,
South Shields and Hereford, and a headstone was erected on her grave
in Redstone Cemetery, since there was not one previously. They also
put flowers on her grave on the anniversaries of her birth and death
and on other special occasions. she died on 20th September 1969.
Tim Healy born 29th January 1952,
Newcastle-upon-Tyne, was married to actress Denise Welch in 1988.
Tim, a life-long Newcastle United fan was first a paratrooper before becoming
an actor. Coronation Street was his first TV role, and he subsequently appeared
in The World Cup, A Captain's Tale, Emmerdale Farm, When The Boat Comes In,
Crown Court and Minder before his first major role as Dennis in Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
Denise Welch was born on the 22nd of May 1958 in Ebchester Co. Durham. They have 2 sons
Matthew born 1991 and Louis Vincent born 2001. Denise Welch also acted in Auf Wiedersehen Pet,
Solder Soldier and the long running British soap, coronation street as the rovers return
landlady Natalie Barnes for 4 years.
