The Beatles appeared at the Sunderland Empire Theatre twice
in 1963 The Beatles who have been a part of our lives for
over four decades. Expressing Music of there time. The
album (Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) captured a
moment in musical history and lifted pop music to a new
level of artistic achievement. Many famous rock bands have
appeared at Sunderland throughout the 60's70's. Many of them
unknown, they would later gather fame and rise to stardom.

The 17th February 1969, Pink Floyd's venue was at the Bay
Hotel / Fillmore Sunderland. Their only top 10 hit in the 60's was
called See Emily Play. They Went on to Massive fame with hits such
as, Another Brick In The Wall. Shine On You Crazy Diamond and Dark
Side Of The Moon. They remain one of the top rock bands of today.

rocked around Sunderland in the early 70' s playing to a very
small audience before hitting the big time with a huge
string of hits including, Telephone Line, Mr Blue Sky and
Rollover Beethoven. The Electric Light Orchestra is again set to
return in 2001 with Their first album in 15 Years. Zoom
Jeff Lynne, the architect of the Electric
Light Orchestra, will build on the groups formidable legacy. on
June the 9th 2001 came the release of their first album of new material
in 15 Yrs years.
