Sunderland Recycling

For every bit of rubbish We throw away that isn't recycled it costs your council and ultimately you! money to get rid of it. And with much of it ending up in landfill sites, the cost to the environment is even worse.

The materials you recycle could be passed on to reprocesses so they can turn them in to new products. Using recycled materials to manufacture new items can be cheaper than using raw materials and could mean less energy used. By recycling you will be helping to preserve natural resources and to protect the environment for you and for future generations. Sunderland City Council introduced a new recycling system to make it easier for people in Sunderland to recycle more waste from your doorstep. It will also help reduce the amount sent to landfill.

The blue bin inner box:

Holds your newspapers, magazines and paper and the rest of the material for recycling will go into the main part of the bin.
