Green light given to demolish the civic center and build new homes

Is this one going to sit there demolished for ten years?
That's usually the timeframe for any work to actually get done in Sunderland.

If you're willing to wait a few years that is. It'll probably take 6 months to demolish, then it'll sit there for a year longer...loads of rubble, making the area look like a tip, then it'll take a few more months to clear it..it'll probably sit there with nothing happening for a bit after its cleared..this is how Sunderland council rolls.
They seem to take forever to do anything

The amount of money involved with that bit of land should see things move far quicker I reckon.

There's a lot of money involved with the vaux site, but there seems to be permanent fences around there every week with nothing happening.

I think the industrial site had different issues but the housebuilders are a different kettle of fish and will want to make a move.Steve30000 wrote: ↑14 Apr 2022, 20:43There's a lot of money involved with the vaux site, but there seems to be permanent fences around there every week with nothing happening.
Now that house prices are sky-high, you can bet your bottom dollar they will want to get in there.

I wonder if they will keep the nuclear bunker that was built into the Civic Centre?

I wonder if there's anything useful still down there.
