Sunderland vs Sheffield Wednesday - May, 2024

Post by Nockya »

Sunderland vs Sheffield Wednesday - May, 2024.
The Kickoff at the Stadium of Light is 12:30.

This is the last game of the season for the lads, and its the last time Mike Dodds will be the gaffer.
While we have nothing to play for but pride, Sheffield Wednesday still needs to get a point to guarantee safety.
So, if the lads want the 40,000+ supporters to go home happy, they will have to play well.

Will the Sunderland players do a lap of honour at the Stadium of Light?
It may depend on them doing a good job!.

Team news today:
The Wearsiders line-up is as follows:

Sunderland AFC Starting XI: Bishop, Hume, O’Nien, Ballard, Alese, Ekwah, Styles, Robert, Aouchiche, Clarke, and Bellingham.
SAFC substitutes: Patterson, Pembele, Evans, Mundle, Ba, Rigg, Dack, Watson, and Hemir.

Nathan Bishop gets his first start of the season, with Anthony Patterson dropping to the bench.
Patrick Roberts comes in as Chris Rigg drops to the bench.
Bradley Dack also replaces Leo Hjelde for today's game.

The weather today on Wearside is not cold, but it is overcast.
Haway the lads.

I can't see Sheffield Wednesday going down, but hopefully we will please the home fans.
I reckon it will be a 0-0 draw, and both sets of supporters will be relieved.
The lap of honour is customary, so I hope they do, and I hope the fans join in with the relief of an up-and-down sort of season.

There will be a minute of applause for the king, Charlie Hurley, don't forget.
No doubt, the crowd will be singing his song throughout the game.

I doubt there will be over 40,000 fans at the stadium, but maybe they will attend if they are like the rest of us and feel that the lads have tried their best all season (a lot are not good enough, though).
It would be a bad thing for Sheffield Wednesday to go down, so I hope we win and other results go in their favour.
We need the big clubs around us.

There will be a new manager next season at Sunderland.
I hope the best for Mike Dodds, but he knew this was going to be a hard job.

Come on Sunderland!

WOW, there's still the second half to go yet. Poor performance so far.

I might have the day off today!

I am going to do something better than concentrate on this game. Not a happy chappie here, like.
